About Me

When I'm not assisting administratively at the Harris County Public Library administrative offices, I teach Grammar and Composition at Houston Community College's central campus. Otherwise, I am usually writing or avoiding writing depending on my mindset.

In 2000, I was awarded a C. Glenn Cambor/Inprint Fellowship to study in the University of Houston Graduate Creative Writing Program. While an undergraduate, I twice won both the UH/Howard Moss Prize for Poetry and the Sylvan Karchmer Prize for Fiction. My poem "Diptych" was awarded the Editor's Choice Prize for the anthology of Texas poets, The Weight of Addition. The poem "Anatomy" appears in the Winter 2010 issue of New South.

I hope someday to be given a lifetime achievement award in the field of shameless self-promotion.
