Back to School Reads

With the beginning of school right around the corner, I’ve been thinking about a bunch of really great books where school is a major part of the story.

Spud by John van de Ruit – Follows John “Spud” Milton in his first year at a prestigious, all-boys boarding school.  Also look for Spud-The Madness Continues.
I’d Tell You I Love You, But then I’d Have to Kill You by Ally Carter – Follow Cammie Morgan through her sophomore year at the Gallagher Academy, a school for aspiring young spies. Also check out Cross My Heart and Hope to Spy and Don’t Judge a Girl by Her Cover!
Looking for Alaska by John Green – During Miles Halter’s first year at Culver Creek Boarding School, unforgettable friends are made, amazing pranks perpetrated, and a great loss affects Miles and his group.
Sleeping Freshmen Never Lie by David Lubar – Scott navigates his first year of high school, hoping to one day impart the wisdom he has gained to his unborn baby brother.
A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray – After the tragic and suspicious death of her mother, Gemma attends an English boarding school where she first becomes aware of her magical powers. Also check out Rebel Angels and The Sweet Far Thing.
The Big Splash by Jack D. Ferraiolo – Matt Stevens uncovers a mystery while working for 7th grade tough guy, Vincent “Mr. Biggs” Biggio.
